Community Development Block Grants

ADDs assist the Department for Local Government (DLG) in implementing the KY Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) by providing technical assistance and certified CDBG administrative services to local units of government and eligible communities. This federal matching grant finances community and public facility improvement projects.

Land & Water Conservation Fund

This program is a matching grant for the acquisition, development, and renovation of outdoor recreation areas and facilities. The grant provides up to fifty percent matching funds and is awarded to local governments on a reimbursement basis. The National Parks Service administers the program at the federal level and the Kentucky Department for Local Government administers grants at the local level.

Recreational Trails Program

This program can be used for the acquisition of easements, development and/or maintenance of recreational trails and trailhead facilities for both motorized and non-motorized use. The program is funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and is administered locally through the Kentucky Department for Local Government.

State Homeland Security Program

This grant is used by cities, counties, public agencies, and area development districts to purchase items such as alert systems, portable radios, mobile data computers, rescue equipment, and medical devices for first responders to deal with emergencies.

USDA Rural Development Grants & Loans

This grant/loan opportunity can be utilized for business, housing and community facilities, water and waste disposal, renewable energy systems and energy efficiency, utilities, and educational and healthcare opportunities for residents of rural America. All areas except for Jefferson County are eligible for funds. Population according to Census is a factor concerning eligibility.
