American Recovery & Reinvestment Act Project Progress
On February 17, 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) was signed into law. The main goals, as stated in the Act, are:
(1) To preserve and create jobs and promote economic recovery.
(2) To assist those most impacted by the recession.
(3) To provide investments needed to increase economic efficiency by spurring technological advances in science and health.
(4) To invest in transportation, environmental protection, and other infrastructure that will provide long-term economic benefits.
(5) To stabilize State and local government budgets, in order to minimize and avoid reductions in essential services and counterproductive state and local tax increases.
The projects in the following table were selected to use Recovery Act funding dedicated to the Louisville (KY-IN) Metropolitan Planning Area. This table does not include projects that are funded using Recovery Act dollars dedicated to either the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) or the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) for use throughout those states. For more information about each project, please click on the project name. We will be updating each project page on a monthly basis with additional information and project progress.
