Transportation DivisionThe KIPDA Transportation Division provides planning and technical assistance to help meet the transportation needs of all counties within the Louisville (KY-IN) Metropolitan Planning Area (MPA) and the KIPDA Area Development District (ADD) giving emphasis to bicycle, highway, paratransit, pedestrian and public transit modes of transportation. As KIPDA is not limited to planning within particular jurisdiction (county and/or city) boundaries, we are provided the opportunity to plan regionally, where the actions of each jurisdiction takes into consideration the other jurisdictions in the region. This agency works to assure transportation plans are coordinated with comprehensive land use, infrastructure, and air quality plans as well as other planning efforts carried out by public agencies. The transportation planning process seeks advice and recommendations from a wide variety of interests. Citizens, consumers, land use planners, transportation planners, traffic engineers, implementation specialists, policy makers, and other interested agencies and groups are consulted during the development and evaluation of transportation planning activities.
