Transportation DivisionIntelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
Intelligent Transportation Systems, or ITS, encompass a wide range of communications-based information and electronics technologies. By integrating them into the transportation system's infrastructure, these technologies may be able to assist with relieving congestion, improving safety, and enhancing productivity by reducing the overall trip time for both people and goods. In some cases, ITS technologies may be able to provide additional data for traffic analyses. ITS are made up of 16 types of technology-based systems. These are then divided into intelligent infrastructure systems and intelligent vehicle systems. To learn more about these and how they can be applied, as well as the costs and potential benefits, please visit the ITS Technology Overview website.
