Public Administration DivisionHazard MitigationThe purpose of the Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan is to identify the scope and impact of various natural hazards that could potentially affect communities within our six-county (Bullitt, Henry, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, and Trimble) region. The plan also formulates a mitigation strategy designed to reduce the negative impact of natural hazards on our communities and plan maintenance procedures designed to ensure the plan remains a relevant and functional mitigation plan. A Regional Mitigation Committee was formed, along with local subcommittees within each jurisdiction. This regional committee guided the subcommittees, oversaw the planning process, reviewed the findings of KIPDA staff and the subcommittees, established plan maintenance procedures, and, in conjunction with the KIPDA Board of Directors, will approve final plan content. Subcommittee members participated in each phase of the planning process, providing input to the RMPC and KIPDA staff in the development of mitigation goals and objectives, identification and analysis of mitigation measures, developing the strategy to implement mitigation measures, and establishing plan maintenance procedures.
