This program assists persons over 60 years of age who are either at risk  of becoming institutionalized or who are already in such a facility but could live at home with assistance.  The goal is to maintain an elderly resident in his or her home by providing needed assistance and case management.  Services include home delivered meals, homemaking, personal care, escort, chore, and respite.  Acceptance to the program is based on assessment results; fees are sliding scale based on the client's income.  For more information please contact Evelyn Tinker.

Adult Day Care is a structured program that is designed to keep older persons active, safe, stimulated and entertained.  Eligibility is based on assessment results wit a sliding scale fee.  Attendance is individualized to the participant's needs.  For more information please contact Marilyn Minnick.

A nursing home ombudsman advocates on behalf of nursing home residents by investigating complaints and informing residents of their rights through volunteer visits.  For more information please contact Marilyn Minnick.

Title III funding allows KIPDA to create opportunities for seniors to access transportation, advocacy and outreach, home delivered meals and congregate meals, health promotion education, financial management, legal assistance, counseling, and more.  These services are delivered through contracts with local agencies.  For information on the agency nearest you, please contact Vesselina Romanov.

Each center is unique in its programming.  At a minimum a visitor can expect to find the following services and activities:  educational speakers covering numerous topics, congregate meals, nutrition counseling, health and fitness programs, recreation and socialization.  Many centers offer transportation to and from the center.  Most centers also offer home delivered meals for the more frail elderly who cannot get to the center.  For more information for the center nearest you, please contact Vesselina Romanov.

The KIPDA Nutrition Program for the Elderly is funded through the Older Americans Act Title III-C, state funds and local funds.  There are no income guidelines for the Title III-C Congregate and Home Delivered Meals and there is no charge for these meals.  We support Nutrition Sites so seniors have the opportunity to get out of the house and spend time with friends and neighbors and in some cases other age groups.  These sites provide not only meals but also some education about nutrition;  many are located in Senior Centers where other activities are available.

The program solicits and collects donations from meal recipients and the community at large.  We use this income to provide more meals each month.  We use about 500 volunteers, many of whom are themselves seniors, to serve and deliver meals.  For a site near you, to volunteer or make a donation, please call 574-MEAL.

The KIPDA regions Aging Network is committed to providing opportunities to help seniors live better and longer.

Together we sponsor and host AARP Driver Safety Programs, walking programs, and exercise classes.  We can help seniors quit smoking and manage their medications better.  We provide financial and technical support for the Regional, State and National Senior Olympic Games.  We provide tips and information for healthy living available through our community partners.  Won't you join us on the road to a healthy lifestyle?  For more information please contact Sue Johnson.

Established by the Kentucky General Assembly, this program mandates personal care attendant services for severely physically disabled adults age 18 and over.  The client must be mentally alert with permanent, temporary or recurring functional loss of two or more limbs.  The disabled adult has the management responsibility of hiring, supervising and dismissing the attendant.  Services allow the adult to achieve greater physical independence.  For more information please contact Michelle Wade.

This program offers a variety of opportunities to receive needed help through supportive and supplemental services.  Supportive services may include information and assistance, counseling, support groups, training and other services.  Supplemental services are provided through a voucher or grant system to assist with the purchase of school supplies, clothing, legal services, respite services, medical and dental services, and other services as authorized by KIPDA.  Income eligibility does apply.  For more information please contact Patrice McGhee.

CDO allows eligible Medicaid Waiver members to choose their own providers for non-medical waiver services.  CDO is being offered for Kentucky Medicaid Waiver members who currently receive services or who become eligible through Home and Community Based Waiver (HCB), Supportive Community Living (SCL) Waiver, or Acquired Brain Injury (ACI) Waiver.  For more information please contact Cheryl Lutz.
